NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A mother and her 10-year-old daughter are dead and a man is in critical condition in what police are investigating as a double murder-attempted suicide in the Bronx.

Linda Manigault, 34, and her daughter, Heaven Ross, were found dead at a home on Belmont Avenue, near East 181st Street and a few blocks from the Bronx Zoo.

Police also found a 32-year-old man inside with a gunshot wound to his head. He was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition. He has not been identified.

It’s believed that the man, who was in a relationship with the mother, killed the two before shooting himself in the head.

Heide Sanchez, who lived downstairs from the family, says she always got an eerie feeling about the boyfriend, calling him a “quiet soul” who “didn’t talk too much.”

Other children also lived at the home. They were not hurt in the incident, police said.

A vigil was on display for the mother and daughter outside the home on Sunday. A sign read, “Rest in peace Linda and Heaven.”
