EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (WCBS 880) — A new paint job is coming to what was once called “the ugliest damn building in New Jersey” and residents are being invited to help create the new design.

Triple Five, the developer of the American Dream mega-mall in the Meadowlands, says the much-hated ski slope will be getting an upgrade.

EN MASSE has been tasked by the developer to figure out the new design and has scheduled a number of workshops at Williams Center for the Arts in Rutherford, to collect ideas from residents.

The artist collective from Montreal plans to have participants draw their concepts on a large canvas with the theme being what the American Dream means to them.

Those concepts will be incorporated into the final mural, which will be painted over the red and orange rectangles seen from the Jersey Turnpike for decades.

A smaller mural will also be painted on the wall of the mega-mall, on the side of the building facing towards the MetLife Stadium.

The mall is set to open on Oct. 25, but the group will not being painting the murals until spring 2020. The finished product will be unveiled in the summer.
