NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — As two new R. Kelly accusers came forward Thursday, lawyer Gloria Allred claimed there is an open investigation into the singer by federal prosecutors in New York.

As WCBS 880’s Mike Smeltz reported, prosecutors with the Eastern District of New York State neither confirmed nor denied the existence of the investigation.

But, the high-profile lawyer said from her point of view, there is an open investigation into R Kelly.

“It’s my opinion that there is an open investigation, but you’ll have to ask them whether they wish to comment that there is or there is not,” Allred said.

If there is in fact an investigation into the R&B singer by federal prosecutors, it presents another legal threat to the singer who faces multiple claims of sexual abuse.

Allred told reporters about the possible investigation while introducing two new alleged R. Kelly victims, Latreese Scaff and Rochelle Washington, who say the singer abused them when they were just 15 and 16-years-old.

They told reporters they met R. Kelly during a party after one of his concerts and after drinking and smoking weed, Scaff said the two were ushered into a hotel room in downtown Baltimore.

The two teens were allegedly left alone with R. Kelly and pressured to have sex with him.

“He then had sexual intercourse with me, even though I did not have the capacity to consent,” Scaff said of the incident.

Allred says both women are currently meeting with investigators from the Eastern District.
