NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- An even larger crowd than usual is expected in Times Square for the 2020 countdown thanks to unseasonable weather and the beginning of a new decade.

That means there are plenty of street closures and subway changes in effect for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Here's what to know about what to expect in the Times Square area Tuesday and Wednesday.

There will be an evening shower in spots, but it is otherwise dry and chilly in Times Square for New Year's Eve. The high will be near 40 but windchills will be in the low 30s—still warmer (and dryer) than previous years—for the ball drop.

New Year's Day (Wednesday) is partly sunny with highs in the mid-40s in the city. Expect similar conditions on Thursday before some rain moves in on Friday.
