NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- New York is on the verge of banning 3D-printed and other undetectable firearms.

The state Assembly passed a bill banning the manufacture, sale and possession of so-called "ghost guns" on Monday, five days after the Senate approved the measure.

Westchester Assemblyman Tom Abinati, the bill's sponsor, says gun laws have to up updated to account for the digital age.

The bill is expected to be signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

The weapons are called “ghost guns” because they are created in secrecy without a serial number, preventing them from being tracked.
