1 Dead, 4 Hurt In Newark House Fire; Resident Jumps Out 2nd Story Window

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A fast-moving fire Wednesday morning in a Newark house has killed one person and injured at least four others.

One person jumped out of a second-story window to escape the flames.

The two-alarm fire started just before 6 a.m. on Summer Avenue.

One man was found on the first floor and pronounced dead at the scene, Newark's Department of Public Safety said.

Two animals were also killed in the blaze.

It is not yet known what caused the fire.

The injured victims are being treated at a hospital.
