Search Continues For 5-Year-Old Girl Who Disappeared From NJ Park

BRIDGETON CITY, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- The search continues for a missing 5-year-old girl from southern New Jersey as the reward for information in the case grows to $30,000.

Dulce Maria Alavez disappeared while playing with her 3-year-old brother at Bridgeton City Park on Monday afternoon.

Authorities believe she was kidnapped by a man who lured her away to a red van or SUV while her mother was attending to a young relative in a car near the playground.

Her family is asking anybody with information to come forward.

"Our sadness is such that we haven't been able to eat or sleep, please I beg you to help our family," he grandmother said at a press conference Thursday. "Please if you know anything, come forward, don't be afraid of the police. We need your help."

Alavez is about 3-feet tall, weighing 60 to 70 pounds and has brown eyes and brown hair. She was last seen wearing a yellow shirt with a koala bear on the front, black and white pants, and white shoes.

Authorities believe she left the park with a light-skinned Hispanic male, 5'6" to 5'8" tall with a thin build. He has acne but no facial hair. The suspect was last seen wearing orange sneakers, red pants and a black shirt.

Police have been using helicopters and dogs in the search.
