MIDDLE ISLAND, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- A Long Island bagel store manager came through in a big way for one of his customers.

Diana Chong left her key fob on the counter at Bagel 101 in Middle Island after stopping there on Saturday before driving off with her family to Pennsylvania for a "friendsgiving" party.

Even without the key, Chong managed to get to Honesdale, 185 miles away, without the car shutting off.

But the panic set in when she got to Pennsylvania and noticed she didn't have the fob, which is needed to restart the car.

When Vinny Procia, the manager of Bagel 101, got the call from Chong, the 41-year-old first offered to ship the fob overnight.

But when he discovered there was no overnight service on Sunday, he told Chong he'd hop in his car and drop off the keys himself.

"She sounded so distraught and stressed about not being able to get home and not being able to go to work. So I was like, 'Alright, send me the address, I'll drive them to you.' No hesitation," Procia said. "Helping the next person is doing God's work."

Chong said she is forever friends with Procia and his family, and she hopes to pay it forward.

"So now what he did I want to pay forward to anyone else and be that person who Vinny was that day," Chong said.

Chong paid for Procia's gas and tolls and gave him a gift card along with a thank you note, which came in handy when Procia got stopped for speeding coming back home to Long Island.

The officer let him go without a ticket after Procia showed him the card and told him the story.

Procia is now receiving praise for his act of kinds from friends and strangers.

On an order that came into the store on Tuesday one customer wrote, "I just read how Vinny drove to PA to return the key fob to a customer. Tell him I said Thank you!! I don't know him or the customer but he should know how selfless and kind that act was. I thank you for your heart!!! May God continue to Bless you and your business from this day forward!!!!"
