NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Construction was brought to a halt after workers discovered a bone the size of a forearm at a site in Lower Manhattan.

Crews made the discovery while digging a gas main at the corner of Rivington and Forsyth street around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Police were called to the scene, and after about an hour and a half they determined the bone was not human.

As WCBS 880's Joe Avellar reported, police said the bone was from some kind of animal.

Construction at the site has since resumed.
