JERSEY CITY, N.J. (WCBS 880) — Jersey City swore in 15 new firefighters on Tuesday, including Bruce Springsteen’s son.

Sam Springsteen was sworn in before his famous father and mother, Patti Scialfa, at City Hall by Mayor Steven Fulop and other city officials.

The “Boss” and Scialfa were in the front row to watch their 25-year-old son be sworn in during the ceremony.

“It was a long road, he was very dedicated for quite a few years and we’re just excited for him today,” the 70-year-old musician said after the ceremony.

When asked if he was worried about his son having such a dangerous job, Bruce said he thinks Sam can handle himself really well.

The 25-year-old joined the department as a trainee over the summer.
