2-Year-Old Boy Killed After Being Struck By Train In Lower Manhattan

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A 2-year-old boy was struck and killed by a train in lower Manhattan during the Wednesday evening commute.

The incident happened just before 6 p.m. at the Fulton Street station.

According to CBS2’s Dan Rice, the child was struck and became trapped underneath the train. It’s unclear what led to the child being hit.

The boy was pulled out from under the train and rushed to New York Downtown Hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to CBS2, police officers had to use airbags to lift the train

The MTA reported 1 and 2 train service was suspended between Chambers Street and Atlantic Ave-Barclays Center in Brooklyn, in both directions, while the investigation continued.

There were also delays on the 3, 4 and 5 lines.
