VALHALLA, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — A New York couple is working to clean up the fears surrounding a shortage in disinfectants.

It all started when Robin and Gary Murphy say friends on social media posting about a shortage on cleaning supplies.

“It’s such a no brainer, like ‘okay we have something that people need. How can we share it?’” Robin said.

The couple owns the cleaning service Maid Brigade and have their own machines that can churn out 15 gallons of hospital-grade disinfectant every hour.

At their Valhalla office, those in need of disinfectant can pull up and get a bottle or fill up their own container – completely free of charge.

“We'll load up 25 in a batch and we're rolling those out every hour and a half or so another easy 25 go,” Robin explains.

However, the disinfectant only has a week-long shelf life.

Those who pick up the cleaner are then emailed information on how to use it correctly.
