Nixon Slams Cuomo Over Subway Crisis

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Democratic New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon on Tuesday slammed her opponent for his handling of problems with the New York City subway system.

As WCBS 880’s Mike Sugerman reported, Nixon arrived at a news conference off a Brooklyn-bound No. 4 train – in a very photogenic attempt to show how she takes the subways while her opponent rarely does.

Nixon ripped into Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

“Really, the governor is all talk and no action,” she said.

Nixon said Cuomo is for charging drivers coming into Manhattan to pay for subways with congestion pricing, has declared a state of emergency, and has had a lot of photo ops. But she said Cuomo’s actions with regard to the subway system are all for show.

“I think he’s just trying to stall for time,” she said.

Nixon thinks Cuomo is stalling specifically until after the primary in September. His plan to fix the subway has no dollar amount attached to it.

Nixon said she cannot come up with a number either until she finds out what the official estimates might be.
