NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — The jury has been selected in Harvey Weinstein’s New York City rape trial, allowing testimony to begin next week.

One day after lawyers for the disgraced movie mogul demanded a halt to jury selection and that his rape trial be moved out of the city, the full panel of 12 jurors and three alternatives had been seated.

The main jury is made up of seven men and five women. The three alternates include two women and one man.

The final count seemed to ease concerns over a gender imbalance. Earlier in the day, prosecutors had alleged the defense was deliberately trying to keep young women off the panel.

The 67-year-old is charged with raping one woman in 2013 and sexually assaulting another in 2006. He has pleaded not guilty and said any sexual activity was consensual.

If convicted, Weinstein could face life in prison.
