GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- A heartbroken mother is pleading for the return of her first born son's ashes after they were stolen from her Long Island home last month.

Monique Hartley-Brown says her baby boy, named Miles, was stillborn on Christmas Day 10 years ago.

All she had left of him is now gone.

Two men, who were caught on surveillance video breaking into her house in Garden City while she and her family were on vacation, stole several items, including her wedding ring and a small heart-shaped silver urn with her son's ashes inside.

"We had spread some of his ashes on the beach in Florida where he was born and then the remainder was in that urn. That was all we had left," Hartley-Brown says.

She is asking that the urn be returned — no questions asked.

"That urn means the world to us and it means bringing my son back home and if they could only just understand how heartwrenching it is when you lose a child," Hartley-Brown says.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to Call Garden City police at 516-465-4100.
