Gunfire Erupts At New Jersey High School Football Game

PLEASANTVILLE, N.J. (WCBS 880) — At least two people were wounded when someone fired a gun during a high school football state playoff game in New Jersey.

About a half dozen shots rang out while Pleasantville High School played a home game against Camden High School.

The Press of Atlantic City reports the shots came from the Pleasantville bleachers in the third quarter. Video posted to social media showed terrified spectators running out of the stands, people laying on the ground and players from both teams running off the field.

People can be heard screaming and someone yelling, "Get down."

Pleasantville Police Chief Sean Riggin said a young juvenile and adult male were seriously injured. He did not release their names or conditions.

Camden was leading Pleasantville 6-0 at the time of the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
