NORTHPORT, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- A Long Island woman is searching for good-hearted citizens to spend some time with veterans.

As WCBS 880’s Sophia Hall reported, Carol Klein said it only takes a few hours out of your evening, but it will have lasting and positive effects on our veterans.

Klein, the founder of Heroes Night Out, said she has events with homeless veterans at the Northport VA, where she invites guests who teach and spend time with the veterans.

"Our goal is to find people willing to come and share their time and talents with the guys if they sing or are comedians,” Klein said. “If they like to cook, they could come in and do a cooking demonstration or even just donate a full dinner for the guys. Sports, I would love to have somebody come in and talk sports with the guys."

Klein is looking for volunteers.

"Anything that somebody has to share, we would love to hear from you," she said.
