Jury Deliberates In Mangano Corruption Trial

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- The jury now has the bribery and corruption case against former Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano.

As WCBS 880’s Sophia Hall reported, Thursday marked the first full day of deliberations in the bribery and corruption case for Mangano. The jury’s decision could be based on whether they believe the star witness for the prosecution, Harendra Singh.

Singh testified that he gave Mangano items such as a $3,000 massage chair, paid for luxury vacations, and gave Mangano’s wife, Linda, a no-show job for $100,000 per year in order to receive contracts and $20 million in guaranteed loans.

But defense attorneys called Singh a liar and compared him to Pinocchio, saying Singh lied on the stand because he made a deal with prosecutors, and saying the real reason Singh gave Mangano anything was because the two were great friends.
