EAST ISLIP, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- A boy’s parents have sued a Catholic school on Long Island, claiming the school did nothing to stop repeated racial harassment.

As WCBS 880’s Ethan Harp reported, the federal lawsuit was filed by the 14-year-ol d boy’s parents on Friday. It said an eighth grader at St. Mary School in East Islip, who is black, has been targeted for months with racist online images sent through the online gaming app Discord.

The complaint said repeated attempts by the alleged victim’s family to meet with teachers did nothing to ensure a sense of safety.

Attorneys for the parents said the photos included a gun pointed to the boy’s head, and images of the KKK.

The Diocese of Rockville Centre runs the school, but did not immediately return WCBS 880’s request for comment.
