Man Accused Of Attacking MTA Bus Driver, 56, With Umbrella Sought By Police

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Police are searching for a man who they say attacked a 56-year-old MTA bus driver with an umbrella in Queens.

According to police, the suspect was riding the Q8 bus around 12:10 a.m. on Wednesday, when they pulled up to to corner of Van Wyck and 101st Street.

Police say the rider demanded the driver to move the bus.

When the driver refused to comply, the stranger grabbed an umbrella, struck him over the head and in the body several times officials say.

The rider fled southbound on the expressway service road.

Authorities say the driver was taken to the Jamaica Medical Center, with a cut to the head and a bruised rib cage.
