NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- It was hot outside on Saturday, but one dog owner allegedly did not notice when he locked his two dogs in the car with the windows closed in Brooklyn.

Fortunately for the animals, Geri Badolato saw the dogs barking and desperately clawing at the windows in the parked car on 64th Street between 10th and 11th avenues in Bensonhurst. She was unable to find the owner, so she called police.

Police found the owner – Kenneth Schnabel, 54 – and arrested him.

“Very angry. He had some nerve,” Badolato told CBS2. “I’d like to lock him in a car and keep him there overnight and see how he feels.”

The ASPCA said in 85-degree weather, it only takes 30 minutes for a car interior to hit 125 degrees.
