NYPD: Man Wanted For Raping Woman Who Asked Him For Directions In Midtown

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Police are looking for a man who they say raped a woman on a Midtown street after she asked him for directions.

The New York Post reports the 31-year-old woman from Yonkers got lost on the subway on her way to a  friend’s house around 1 a.m. Sunday.

She was asking for directions at 51st Street near Broadway when police say the man grabbed her by the arm and led her down into a basement at a building on 51st Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues, where he allegedly raped her.

The suspect ran off and was last seen walking north on Broadway near 52nd Street.  

The victim was treated at a nearby hospital for bruising to her right arm, back and right leg.
