NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Police are trying to identify a man whose body was found wrapped in carpet outside a Harlem apartment building Thursday morning.

A passerby noticed the rolled up carpet with a pair of feet sticking out on West 145th Street near Frederick Douglas Boulevard just before 6 a.m.

Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said the man had suffered possible wounds to the head and the death is being investigated as a homicide.

Shea believes the body had been in front of the building for a few hours before it was found.

The medical examiner will determine the man's cause of death.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
