Molinaro: If Trump Warrants An Investigation, Cuomo Does Too

September 14, 2018 - 2:42 pm

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- Now that the primary is over, Marc Molinaro – the man who wants to win the New York state Executive Mansion for the Republicans – is stating his case.

Molinaro ran unopposed on Thursday, while Gov. Andrew Cuomo handily defeated Cynthia Nixon on the Democratic side.

But Cuomo’s primary campaign spent a lot of time and money focusing not on Nixon, but on President Donald Trump. Molinaro said it is actually Cuomo who is corrupt.

"If anyone believes that there should be an investigation of the president, well then, they surely believe that we need a Robert Mueller like investigation against this governor," Molinaro said.

The 43-year-old Dutchess County executive said unlike Cuomo, he wants to help others rather than himself.

"I care deeply about those who struggle every day. I grew up on food stamps. I know the challenge. I've lived it,” he said. “My mom instilled in us a work ethic but we know how valuable that support structure is. This state government is stealing from the most vulnerable."

Molinaro said he did not vote for Trump for president, and he is not concerned about a surge in Democratic primary voters.
