MTA: Subway Ridership Has Fallen By 30 Million

July 24, 2018 - 3:22 pm

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- New Yorkers are not taking the subway as much as they used to.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said ridership fell by 30 million last year to 1.7 billion, and so far this year, trips are down more than 2 percent.

The MTA said its chronic delays have convinced more riders to drive, or use ride-sharing services.

It is hoping ridership will rebound once its ongoing construction work is completed.
