NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A Wake Forest University basketball coach accused of throwing a punch that left a Florida tourist dead has pleaded not guilty.

Jamil Jones, of North Carolina, was arraigned Thursday night on a misdemeanor assault charge and was released.

Police say he attacked Sandor Szabo, 35,  in Queens on Sunday.

Szabo was looking for the Uber car he hired and was banging on cars -- then banged on Jones' window.

Police say Jones got out, punched him, and then sped off.

Szabo hit his head on the sidewalk and later died.

Jones' attorney called it a tragic accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
