NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- The mother of a six-month-old who came home from daycare in Newark with bruises is trying to get the unlicensed center shut down, according to CBS 2.

Anari Ormond says her daughter, Zuri, has bruises on her cheeks, head, and legs, as well as a tender ankle, according to CBS.

She told CBS that the daycare, J & A Nursery, first told her that her daughter had been bitten by a toddler while left unattended. When she went to pickup Zuri up, Ormond was told that a caretaker had fallen while carrying the infant down the stairs.

After the incident, Ormond tried to contact authorities and discovered that the city had no record of the business, CBS reports.

A daycare with more than five children are required to have a state license, which J & A did not. Ormond told CBS that the daycare cared for eight children every day.
