NYPD Officer Knocked Unconscious By Fallen Tree Branch

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — An NYPD officer was knocked unconscious when a large tree branch hit her in the head in Manhattan.

It happened around 7:40 p.m. Thursday on Fifth Avenue near 99th Street near Central Park.

The branch had fallen on top of a green cab and the officer got out of her patrol car to help move it.

The cab driver tells The Daily News the branch shifted and hit the officer in the head, causing her to briefly lose consciousness.

She was taken to the hospital, where she is recovering.

Meanwhile, in Queens a large oak tree fell at Alley Pond Park injuring four people Thursday afternoon.

It's not clear what made the tree fall.

All the victims are expected to recover.
