NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — The widow of NYPD Detective Wenjian Liu has donated more than 3,000 face masks and a box of hand sanitizer to her late husband's precinct in Brooklyn.

Sanny Chen tells the New York Post the 84th Precinct's job is to keep us safe, so she wanted to do something to keep them safe as well.

Most of the supplies were bought by the foundation Chen set up in her husband's name.

Liu and his partner, Rafael Ramos, were shot and killed while sitting in his patrol car back in 2014.

At least 236 uniformed and civilian members of the NYPD have tested positive for COVID-19.

As of Wednesday, 3,237 uniformed officers were on sick report, accounting for 8.9% of the department’s uniformed workforce.
