NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Police officials are searching for at least one man accused of scamming seniors in a grand larceny pattern around Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx.

Officials say there have been at least 15 incidents reported between Jan. 7 and Jan. 23.

According to police the victims received calls from unidentified individuals stating that the victim's relatives were having legal troubles and need cash for bail or legal fees.

The suspects then act as couriers and arrange to pickup of sums of money ranging between approximately $3,000 dollars and $9,600 dollars from the victims at their homes or a third party location.

Authorities captured one suspect on surveillance footage approaching homes in two different incidents and investigators believe the suspect has worked with others others in this grand larceny pattern.

Officials ask anyone with information to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-8477.
