NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — What's the most challening part about being a street reporter?

In this week's Sweet Spot, our very own street reporter Mike Sugerman says it's not thinking of the tough questions or getting both sides to the story, it's finding a bathroom he could use while he's out in the field.

One survey shows New York City ranks 93rd nationally for bathroom availability with 16 public restrooms for every 100,000 residents, and that's not to mention the 60 million tourists a year.

"I do believe it's getting harder to use public restrooms," said Andrew Maksymowicz, a New York City bathroom guru.

It's not a title most would envy, but he's flush with excitement every time he gets to help someone find a place to go.

Maksymowicz got the idea almost 13 years ago when he would visit the city and couldn't find any kind of guide.

"There was no Zagat for bathrooms and so I decided to create my own," said Maksymowicz.

Maksymowicz, who now lives in the city working in construction, started the Poopers Guide on Instagram. It tells you where you can go and what you can expect when you get there.

"Every bathroom is vetted by me, I don't have an army out there of people looking for restrooms. I particularly enjoy the journey," Maksymowicz said.

Sometimes that journey takes him to territory he may not be wanted, like a place that has bathrooms for customers only, especially in restaurants.

"Something I do that some people might say is frowned upon is telling the host that your party has yet to arrive and you want to use the restroom while you wait, they usually have no reason to deny you. So really it's kind of how creative you can get," he said.

For people like Sugerman, who often find themselves out and about, Poopers Guide offers some relief, when you need relief.
