Reputed Mobster Survives Assassination Attempt In The Bronx

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A reputed mobster linked to the Bonanno crime family survived an assassination attempt early Wednesday.

Police said Salvatore "Sally Daz" Zottola, 41, was shot in the chest and hand while walking out of his Wednesday morning on Tierney Place in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx, according to published reports. Another bullet grazed his head.

Police said the shooter jumped into a waiting and got away.

Zottola was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was listed in serious, but stable, condition.
