NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A suspect has been arrested and charged in a possible gang-related shooting that left a 16-year-old boy dead in East New York, Brooklyn over the weekend.

Ralief Bradford, 24, of Brooklyn, was charged with second-degree murder, gang assault, and criminal possession of a weapon, and first-degree criminal possession of a firearm in the shooting that killed Justin Richey on Sunday.

Richey had just walked out of a bodega near Blake Avenue and Pine Street in East New York around 5 p.m. Sunday when a group of men set upon him. They punched him before one pulled a gun and fired.

Richey stumbled half a block and died. Blood stains the sidewalk where Richey took his last breath, WCBS 880's Sean Adams reported.

Friends say Richey was a good kid who did odd jobs to help his family.

"He helped women, he helped old people, he was always helping people. He never asked for nothing. He was just a kid," one friend said.

Police said they were looking into a possible gang connection.

Richey was one of four teens killed within a week in Brooklyn.
