NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Tom Cruise is going where no actor has gone before.

The "Mission Impossible" and "Top Gun" star will be making a movie that's literally out of this world.
The 56-year-old Cruise, who famously performs his own stunts, will be working with Elon Musk’s SpaceX and NASA on a project that will be filmed in outer space, Deadline first reported.

NASA has confirmed that the action adventure flick will be shot at the International Space Station.

"NASA is excited to work with @TomCruise on a film aboard the @Space_Station! We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make @NASA’s ambitious plans a reality," NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine tweeted Tuesday.

While Cruise and SpaceX have yet to comment on the news, Elon Musk responded to Bridenstine's tweet saying, "Should be a lot of fun!"

SpaceX is set to launch astronauts into orbit from U.S. soil for the first time since 2011 on May 27.
