Will Meghan Markle's Father Be At The Royal Wedding?

WINDSOR, England (WCBS 880) -- The wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is all set for this coming Saturday, but there were questions Tuesday as to whether Markle’s father would be in attendance.

Thomas Markle reportedly said he wouldn't attend his daughter's wedding after he posed for embarrassing photos in exchange for payment from a paparazzi agency. Thomas Markle told TMZ that he suffered a heart attack last week and will skip the wedding.

But TMZ reported later Tuesday that Mr. Markle had decided he will walk his daughter down the aisle after all after his daughter contacted him. However, he also told the publication was back in the hospital with serious chest  pains and undergoing tests Tuesday.

“You always want to have a bit of a controversy surrounding a royal wedding. I recall many decades ago, when Prince Charles married Princess Diana, there were questions – was she the one he really wanted to marry? Even then, people were talking about Camilla Hall,” CBS News Correspondent Steve Futterman told WCBS 880’s Pat Farnack Tuesday.

Meghan Markle’s mother is set to attend, but her stepsister and stepbrother apparently were not invited, Futterman said.

“Gee, it sounds like a normal family; normal American family – a little discourse, some problems among some members of the family, some people talk to each other, some people don’t. Now the royal family will have a bit of a dysfunctional American family as part of it as well,” Futterman said.

Streets were already jammed Tuesday, with barricades in place at Windsor Castle. A carriage parade will follow the ceremony, which will be basically the one public view that non-invitees get of the newlyweds.

“That’s going to be one of the really big moments here,” Futterman said.
