NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — New Yorkers beware: chilly weather and some flurries are expected to hit Tuesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service, our area should see some rain around 3 p.m. and that should turn to snow overnight into Wednesday.

Forecasters say the snow will continue for the most part of Tuesday evening and visibility will be low.

Commuters are told to expect wet, slushy roads during the morning commute – especially in parts of New Jersey south of 1-78 and on Long Island.

While the conditions will be slick, the snow is not expected to stick to city streets. Less than an inch of accumulation is expected.

The wintry mix should last until Wednesday morning, when it will begin to tapper off and give way to clear skies for the rest of the week.

By Saturday, we should see a dramatic shift with temperatures near 60 degrees – then some more rain.
