Worker Severely Injured, Another Still Missing Following Bronx Junkyard Fire

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Police say a worker suffered life-threatening injuries and a second worker remains missing following an explosion at a junkyard in the Bronx.

FDNY says a fire was reported at approximately 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday the junkyard on Boston Road in Eastchester.

Firefighters and emergency response teams attempted to extinguish the huge fire that broke out causing a big cloud of black smoke to emerge. 

NBC 4 reports that a witness saw the victim come out from the fire, burning, and smothered him to put out the flames on his body and cut off his shirt to prevent the clothes from sticking to his open wounds..

The worker was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with serious, life-threatening injuries, the FDNY said
