NJ Man Says ‘Extremist Radical Liberals’ Destroyed His Ice Cream Shop

MONTCLAIR, N.J. (WCBS 880) – A New Jersey ice cream shop with a controversial “sexy” cow logo has closed, and its owner is blaming the shuttering of his business on “extremist radical liberals.”

Some locals took offense to Dairy Air’s logo – an illustration of a female bovine with a bare rear-end – and even held a community meeting over it.

Owner Anthony Tortoriello told The Bergen Record that those opposed to the logo “were on a crusade to destroy my business and my life.”

Tortoriello told the Record he’s retiring from the business after he was “totally berated and accused of being a woman-hater.”

“It was nonstop harassment; it never ended,” he said.

Tortoriello said “extremist radical liberals” are to blame for his ice cream shop’s demise.

Montclair is famous for being a liberal town. Former Republican Gov. Chris Christie once nicknamed it the “People's Republic of Montclair.”

According to the Record, uproar over the logo began when the owners of the gallery Creativity Caravan voiced their objection last December.

“A hypersexualized cow with her a** upended and poking through a circle, tail raised up, waiting for what? I'm not sure, but I do know that I am repulsed and offended,” Creativity Caravan co-owner Amy Tingle said at the time, according to the Record.

“This kind of marketing scheme is the reason we currently have a sexual predator in the White House,” she continued. 

Tortoriello initially promised to alter the logo, but the change never came about, and the shop was shuttered this week.
