MIDDLESEX COUTNY, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- Police officials are investigating an incident in which they say a driver attempted to lure child into his truck at a bus stop in Middlesex County town.

Police say the incident occurred about 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday on the corner of Arthur and Willow streets in East Brunswick.

A driver rolled down his window and called out, “Hey kid, come here,” according to police.

The child ran away as the driver continued to call after him to "come here," authorities said.

The man eventually backed down and drove east on Arthur Street before turning right onto Old Bridge Turnpike and headed south, police said.

The vehicle is described as a black Ford pickup truck with a “horse-like” decal on the back window, a construction light bar on the roof and tinted windows.

The suspect was described as "older" according to police reports.

East Brunswick police said this incident has prompted them to increase patrols in the area.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the East Brunswick Police Investigative Division at 732-390-6990.
