CEO Radio: A Conversation With Northwell Health CEO Michael Dowling
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Michael Dowling is pushing back on the narrative.
As CEO of Northwell Health, the largest healthcare organization in New York state, he says the recent articles and statistics that suggest the American health care system is dysfunctional and in decline are missing the megatrends that are transforming healthcare.
Among the megatrends that Dowling discusses, in an extensive conversation with WCBS CEO Radio host Ray Hoffman, is a transformation in the way doctors and hospitals are paid.
Instead of the old system of a series of billable services, hospitals are moving toward a model that emphasizes the quality of the treatment. As Dowling puts it, “When you change the way doctors and hospitals are paid, you change the way patients are cared for.”
Northwell Health has 23 hospitals and 68000 employees.
