NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- One of the world's most famous Christmas trees has been chosen.

A 72-foot-tall Norway Spruce from Wallkill, New York will serve as this year's Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.

The 75-year-old tree weighs about 12 tons.

It'll be cut down next month and then driven down from Wallkill to Rockefeller Plaza.

This year's tree lighting ceremony will take place on the Wednesday after Thanksgiving.
