NYPD Chief Of Transportation Dies From Coronavirus

    NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – NYPD Chief of Transportation William Morris died from the coronavirus this weekend.

    NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said Sunday that Morris, 61, died Saturday after serving in the department for nearly 39 years.

    “The condolences and prayers of the entire department are with Billy & his loved ones during this difficult time,” Shea said.

    Morris had reportedly been hospitalized for over a month.

    NYPD Chief of Transit Edward Delatorre also contracted the coronavirus but recovered.

    At least 43 members of the department have died from COVID-19 since the outbreak began and at least 5,740 members have tested positive for the virus.
