November 20, 2018 - 7:35 am

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- It’s every woman’s worst nightmare.

Cops say a woman was parking her car in Brooklyn on Sunday morning when she was raped and robbed by a sexual predator.

The attack unfolded near Parkside Avenue and Parade Place around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the NYPD, which released surveillance images of the suspect Tuesday.

The 59-year-old woman was approached by the suspect, who held a knife to her and put her in a chokehold, according to police.

The man shoved the woman against a parked van and tried to rape her but was unable to.

So cops say the man dragged the woman behind a bench and raped here there.

After assaulting the woman, the man broke into a van by smashing its window and forced the woman inside, where he tried to rape her again.

Police say the man was unable to rape her a second time and instead held the woman in the van for a period of time before robbing her of $10 and letting her go.

The NYPD says the man ran off down Parkside Avenue.

The condition of the woman wasn’t immediately known Tuesday.

Women who live in the area say they’re extra careful at night. Some, like Beatrice, don’t even leave their homes.

Beatrice told WCBS 880’s Mike Sugerman she doesn’t go outside after dark.

“It’s very sketchy at night. Most people are scared, especially females,” she said.

The NYPD says the suspect is a black man in his mid-20s to early 30s. He was last seen wearing a shiny dark-colored bubble coat, a dark-colored knit cap, dark-colored pants and white sneakers.

The suspect was driving a white Ford Econoline van with a green and white logo on its side, police said.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
