Officer, Pedestrian Hit By Minivan After Slashing On Long Island

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A police officer was struck by a minivan after responding to a slashing at a hookah bar that injured multiple people in Farmingdale early Saturday.

According to police, officers responded to a disturbance at Mystique Gardens hookah bar at about 2:45 a.m. and found a bleeding man who had been slashed in the neck.

The victim ran from the hookah bar into a parking lot and collapsed, police say.

While officers attended to him, a white Dodge minivan drove through the lot, striking a parked Nissan, causing the Nissan to spin and hit a female pedestrian standing near the vehicle.

The minivan continued driving towards the officers, striking one of the officers as well as the male victim on the ground, according to police. 

The slashing victim remains in critical but stable condition at a hospital.

Another person who was slashed during the fight was expected to be OK.

The officer had injuries that were not life-threatening, police spokesman Det. Lt. Richard LeBrun said.

The female victim also sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.

The minivan fled north out of the parking lot and is currerntly being sought by police.
