One Mega Millions Ticket Sold In South Carolina Wins $1.6 Billion
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBS 880) – One lucky winner will wake up to find themselves a little richer Wednesday morning.
Mega Millions officials said a ticket purchased in South Carolina matched all six numbers in Tuesday night’s drawing, winning the largest lottery grand prize ever – $1.6 billion.
The winning numbers were 5, 28, 62, 65, 70 and Mega Ball 5.
There were no immediate details on where the winning ticket was sold in the state.
The jackpot had been growing since July 11, when a group in California split a $543 million prize.
The lucky player overcame miserable odds. The chance of matching all six numbers and winning the top prize is 1 in 302.5 million.
Though, for those who didn’t win the Mega Millions, there’s still a chance to win a $620 million prize from Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing.
