MORRISTOWN, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- The Order of St. Benedict of New Jersey settled lawsuits with five men who said they were abused while attending school at Delbarton.

The suit was brought against five monks, a teacher, and a guidance counselor who allegedly admitted in court documents to sexual encounters with some 50 boys.

The lawyer for the five men -- Greg Gianforcaro -- is hoping other outstanding lawsuits will resolve a key issue.

"No one from the church side has ever taken the opportunity to de-frock these men, and they have to be de-frocked," he said.

There are six other pending suits against the order that name faculty at Delbarton and St. Elizabeths.
