NEWARK (WCBS 880) — A passenger at Newark Airport on Sunday tried to bring six smoke grenades through security in a carry-on bag, the Transportation Security Administration said.

The smoke grenades were wrapped in bubble wrap and stuffed inside the carry-on bag. TSA screeners made the discovery as the bag was going through an x-ray machine.

Smoke grenades are not illegal, but they are prohibited from commercial flights. The passenger will not face any charges.

TSA agents took the devices and the passenger was allowed to continue on his flight to the Dominican Republic.
