November 29, 2018 - 12:40 pm

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Health officials in Rockland County say a person infected with measles visited the Best Buy at the Palisades Mall on Saturday night.

The same person was also spotted at the Compare Foods supermarket in Spring Valley on Thanksgiving night and at Jalapa Express in Spring Valley on Saturday evening.

Officials say shoppers who may have been exposed should check with their doctors if they have any symptoms.

They say the best way to prevent meales is to remain up-to-date with your vaccinations.

"Measles is highly contagious, so ANYONE who is not protected against measles is at risk of getting the disease, and they may spread measles to people who cannot get vaccinated because they are too young or have specific health conditions," said County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert.

There have so far been 83 confirmed cases of measles in the county.
