Police: 1 Dead, 2 Hurt In Shootout Between Correction Officers In Yonkers

December 08, 2018 - 4:52 pm

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A shootout at a home in Yonkers left one man dead and another man and woman hospitalized, and all of them were apparently coworkers with the Westchester Department of Correction.

Police say the man who died broke into a house on Buckingham Road via a sliding glass door and began shooting at a couple inside.

That couple, police say, was the shooter’s ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend.

Both the man and the woman were shot, though one of them also had a gun and was able to fire back, according to police.

The ex-boyfriend, identified as 40-year-old Edward Quinoy of Tarrytown, was shot multiple times, including once in the head.

Police think the final shot to Quinoy’s head may have been self-inflicted.

Quinoy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man and woman were still in the hospital with serious injuries Saturday night.

Cops were called to the scene by the man’s mother, who also lives at the house. She was not injured.

Police say all three of those involved in the shootout worked as correction officers with the Westchester County Department of Correction.

County Executive George Latimer said in a statement: “Our thoughts and prayers are with these two correction officers and their fellow members of service during this extremely difficult time. We request that their privacy be respected as they valiantly attempt to recover.”
