NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — The NYPD on Friday arrested a man wanted in connection to the rape of a 12-year-old girl in the Bronx.

Carlos Medina, 51, turned himself into authorities Friday afternoon for questioning after police released surveillance video of their suspect.

Shortly after, Medina was arrested and charged with multiple offences including two counts of rape and sexual abuse.

Authorities say Medina approached the 12-year-old victim at around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 4 on Elder Avenue in the Soundview section of the borough. He engaged in conversation with the girl and lured her into a black SUV.

The suspect then took the child to a motel in Pelham Bay where he raped her, police said.

The victim was later removed to an area hospital where she was treated and listed in stable condition.
